Clinical Research vs laboratory science
Although quite similar due to the operations in similar settings, clinical research, and clinical laboratory sciences are two different fields of medical sciences.
Clinical research deals with scientific investigation methods that are used to study human health and illness. Clinical research is used to answer specific questions on behavior and medicine. It involves the design and administering of studies to investigate a particular disease or to test and evaluate a new drug, procedure, or treatment's impact and effectiveness.
Clinical Researchers have doctoral degrees in philosophy or medicine and this lets them pursue both careers due to increased job opportunities and high paying salaries.
Clinical laboratory sciences on the other hand sometimes referred to medical laboratory sciences. It involves the specialization in library information, services that deal with diagnosis, treatment, and monitoring of medical conditions. It involves performing tests, developing new laboratory processes and experiments, or the interpretation of results.
Clinical Laboratory Scientists go after undergraduate degrees in clinical laboratory sciences at National Accrediting Agency for Clinical Laboratory Sciences (NAACLS) accredited institutions, and after that, they sit for certification exams through the American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP).
Both medical sciences fields take a similar investigative and scientific approach to answering medical questions, but the different methodological approach, work responsibilities, and institutional certification amongst other things.

Clinical Researchers are required to have a bachelor's degree in a life science field, graduate-level education as MD or PhD, before getting a certification to get themselves certified, while Clinical laboratory scientists are required to complete a four year degree Bachelor's degree in clinical laboratory science, biomedical sciences, medical laboratory science, medical technology from the NAACLS institutions.
Clinical Research professionals designs and conducts studies to investigate diseases and methods of treatment, make sure that drugs, drug potency, doses, and methods for mass manufacturing are standardized, develop new studies that can improve health outcomes, apply for funding from private and public sectors, and write research grant proposals, while clinical laboratory scientists perform laboratory tests that aid I the treatments, diagnosis, and monitoring of patients, provide physicians with information on the significance and validity of laboratory test results, assure the blood quality for transfusions, and supervise other laboratory personnel while evaluating new test procedures.
